Drink enough and you'll find yourself laying out big bucks to drag home hunks of the Marco Polo Reserve on sale at the shop upstairs, not that there's anything wrong with that. Cheese is a blessing. DOMAINE BAR A VINS: I'm not usually a proponent of the $1 oyster happy hour deal, because oysters, while delicious, are more like a puff of sea air than real sustenance.

But seasoned oenophiles and fans of the finest boxed Chianti alike rave about this romantic Long Island City wine bar, where you can score six oysters and a glass of wine for $12, from 5 to 7 p.m. daily. You can purchase a cheese plate for full price if the oysters aren't enough for you, and they offer free olive dishes for all imbibers. There's also live music on certain weekday evenings; stop by after a trip to nearby PS 1 if you don't live or work in the neighborhood. GEORGIA'S EASTSIDE BBQ: If it's beer and barbecue that draws you to the happiest few hours of the day, this LES smoke joint offers $2 PBRs and Miller High Lifes, plus $5 sandwiches like pulled pork, ribs, BBQ chicken and fried catfish.

Be advised: your window here is narrow—happy hour runs from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday—but if you've got an unorthodox work schedule, it's a solid deal. ROSA MEXICANO: Rosa Mexicano's New York outposts have scary $$$ notations next to their Yelp pages, and they do indeed serve a $14 guacamole, albeit a delicious one prepared tableside. But if you stop by for happy hour, which runs from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday, you can score $7 flautas, empanadas, quesadillas and tacos. And obviously, there are some sweet booze deals—sangria, wine and cocktails run only $6, select beers are $5, and typically pricey margaritas clock in at $8. TROPHY BAR: Trophy Bar's perhaps best enjoyed late at night (dance floor, y'all!), or in warm weather, when you can take part in Taco Tuesday while feasting outdoors on its patio. But still, the 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. happy hour's a steal, and the food is nothing to sneer at.
