This Upper West Side spot does its name justice, from the friendly after-work crowd and old-school jukebox to community events like trivia, karaoke, and game viewings. In food holiday land, there are some holidays we take TOTALLY seriously {ah-hem, World Nutella Day} and some we don’t. But, when a girl hears that it’s National Drink Wine Day OR National Wine Day…now those are holidays we can get behind {and if you think you’d rather be at the gym…think again}. But, where to go? We’ve compiled a list of a few of our favorite spots for imbibing a glass of delicious wine *and* some yummy food, too. Here are the top wine bars in Hoboken and Jersey City:

Hoboken’s newest wine bar, located in the old location of Helmer’s, Sorellina is a great spot for some delicious stomped grapes. Chandeliers hanging from the ceiling and buttoned leather couches and high top tables contribute to the warm and fun ambiance, and the location is reasonably spacious {albeit super busy on a Saturday night — so make a rezzie!}.  There’s an extensive cheese and wine menu {of exclusively Italian wines}, but we noticed there is no pizza served which was a bit surprising for an Italian-inspired restaurant {looks like a post-dinner Benny’s trip may be in the cards…just sayin’}. Regardless, the food is delicious: plates of bolognese pasta and pesto gnocchi make this spot a perfect combination of comfort food meets upscale wine bar. For those wanting something savory followed by sweet, there is also a selection of desserts. If you have friends or dinner dates that are less wine-inclined, they also offer a variety of martinis for the advanced palate — including a fig martini and other fancy concoctions.

One of Chef Pino’s genius Hoboken creations and the OG of wine bars in town, Bin 14 is guaranteed to be a crowd-pleaser with its cozy ambiance and high-quality cuisine. The wine bar offers a contemporary blend of upscale Italian tapas in an industrial-chic space — with exposed brick walls, tin molded ceilings, and a marble top bar. For those who don’t do gluten, there are delicious substitutions for most of their carbs {including bruschetta and pizza!}, and a selection of great wines from all parts of the world. We also recently discovered Bin 14’s newly improved brunch, which is pretty noteworthy {and yes, there’s a Bloody Mary bar…}! Third and Vine {Jersey City} A cozy wine bar located in Jersey City {at 353 3rd Street}, this husband- and wife-owned locale has quickly become a popular spot off-the-beaten path. Hidden on a side street in the Village area of JC, Third and Vine is known for its ricotta meatballs, pork belly, cheese selection {of over 30+ cheese}, hot cheese sandwiches, and of course — wine.

The drink list is curated from an eclectic selection of international and domestic wines and spirits, and it changes on a regular basis. Did we mention they serve a lot cheese? Satis Bistro {Jersey City} Previously known to HG for their scrumptious ravioli in a mouth-watering vodka sauce, this European-inspired Jersey City staple {located at 212 Washington Street} also serves as a wine bar, which it founded in 2012 after acquiring a liquor license. In addition to a full bar and signature cocktail list that changes with the seasons, Satis offers over 30 bottled beers and over 45 wines by the glass — ranging from $8 – $25 per glass — and of course, the full enchilada: bottles of wine! best wine bar union square san franciscoThe ambiance at this Jersey City restaurant is rustic with a dimly lit aura, making it the perfect spot for a dinner with family and friends or a date night. best wine bar camden

Plus, the food is fan-f&$#king-tastic, if we do say so ourselves. In the former spot of Three As, Grand Vin is a wine bar that recently opened — much to West Hoboken’s excitement. GV has a limited menu selection, but you can get a delish dinner there {and lots of daily specials}, the wine bar’s menu is pretty extensive {with reasonably priced wines, we might add}. If you’re used to small, cramped spots in Hoboken — you’ll be pleasantly surprised, as there’s actually a lot of room … best wine bars nyc 2016AND they take reservations! Among the must-try dishes on the menu: veal meatballs, their homemade gnocchi, and “Hoboken Shrimp” — a combo of stuffed with spinach, pignoli nuts, wrapped with Proscuitto in a white wine sauce, served with vegetables. The space also hosts a variety of wine-tasting events, which is always a plus. A great addition to the neighborhood, that’s for sure.

There are some good bars in Soho and in the bordering Nolita area, so we've paired them together to serve your south of Houston Street drinking needs. There are three main things you need to know about (and order at) Mother's Ruin. They are: alcoholic slushies, wine on tap, and fried chickpeas. This relaxed Nolita bar is cool without being too cool. There isn't a ton of table seating and standing is often necessary, so this one is better suited to stopping in with a small group than it is to a date.

220 W. Houston St. The Brooklyneer is a Brooklyn-themed bar, in Soho, that takes soccer seriously. Ponder that for a second. But not for too long, because this is actually a very useful hangout, with very good food. Use it if you want to catch some futbol, or if you need to escape the fraternity mixer that is next door at Houston Hall. Ever heard of The Ship? This cocktail bar on Lafayette has stayed relatively under the radar, possibly because it's located underground, accessed through an almost-hidden door. Fittingly, there's a boat theme going on, but it's more "fancy barge" than polo shirt in Nantucket. It's a big space, great for either a one-on-one drink at the bar or a small group gathering in one of the booths. Spring Lounge smells like a sock and a hot dog on most nights, but don't the best dive bars? If you're waiting for a table at Rubirosa, here's the place to drink a beer. The Randolph at Broome You know the bars where the bartender is like, "Just tell me what you like, and I will make you a CURATED COCKTAIL suiting your tastebuds"?

The Randolph is not like that. This is a modern cocktail bar, in that there's a cocktail list with $15 drinks that have names like "Pom Selleck," but without so many of the pretenses. It's always relaxed but lively, and is a good place to stop into on a Friday night.The Mulberry Project is exactly like that. But they also pull it off, mostly thanks to one of the better outdoor gardens around. It's a fun place to meet someone, especially in the summer. This one's technically in Little Italy, but it's close enough to Soho to be useful here. 47 E Houston St Botanica looks like a cross between a dive bar and the Central Perk cafe from Friends. That is not meant to be a joke - it actually does look like that: velvet couches, but also grimy floors. It's an ideal place to gather a group, especially before 8pm, when well drinks are $4 and everything else is very cheap too. Connected to the restaurant Public on Elizabeth Street, The Daily is a class act. When you want to drink a Manhattan in a crystal glass, this is where you do it.

La Compagnie des Vins Surnaturels This is the best wine bar in the area, and not just because it has a fancy name. In addition to a large wine list (obviously), La Compagnie has tons of seating - whether you want to sit at the bar, at a small table, or gather a group around some couches in the back. The wallpaper also looks like a very cool science project, which is another plus. The Handy Liquor Bar Located under Chalk Point Kitchen, The Handy Liquor Bar is a cocktail bar and jazz lounge of the "let's pretend Prohibition just ended" theme. There are almost no bars of this sort in Soho proper, so keep this one in mind when you need a spot west of West Broadway. The Ear Inn is located in way, way far west Soho, practically in the Holland Tunnel. But it's worth diverting over here to drink in this extremely old school spot with an extremely cool history (it used to be the home of an African-American revolutionary war veteran). Open since 1817, it's arguably the oldest bar in New York - and happens to still be a very good one.
