For an order from one shop, a whole sale retailer earns Rs. 20,000. Number of orders in a day depend upon number of shops and bars in the region. On average in India, a retail shop may earn Rs.80,000 per day.2. Resort - The licence and setup of resort type liquor business is a costly affair. Generally, this may not give much profits, but during holidays and vacations, the sale may shoot up to Rs.60,000 per day which might remain as low as Rs.20,000 on normal days.3. Wine Shop - In Central India, the cost of a licence for a Wine shop varies from Rs. 2 to 3.5 crores. It shoots up in regions around Delhi. In southern India, license of Wine shops are cheaper.
For Tier 2 cities, small towns, Wine Shop is the most profiting investment, with sales of around Rs.25,000 on normal days. During New Year, Holi, and Christman, sales may shoot up to Rs.35,000. My relatives in a town near Nagpur own a Wine shop, which is the only one in their town. Drop your jaws, their daily sale is Rs.90,000! Monopoly in Wines will make you kings!4. Country Liquor - These shops only sale liquor made in Indian Industries at a subsidiary from the Government. This scheme was especially started to avoid the illegal trade of Poisonous Wines, popularly known as "Bhatti Ki Daaru". Installing a Country Liquor in small towns gives sales of upto Rs. 40,000. The licence of these shops is cheaper in regions where Oranges and Grapes are grown in large quantity. 5. Beer Bar and Restaurant - This may not be a suggestion for mid range towns as people mostly prefer drinking in their homes, not in bars. But Bars and Cafes can be profiting in Cities and Holiday Spots. In small cities and towns, a bar may earn Rs.20,000 on normal days to Rs.35,000 during holidays.
In cities, a bar may earn Rs. 30,000 daily.P.S.: These are average figures and may vary depending upon the state, location, city and time of the year! The figures I have shown are daily counter collections and not profit margins.I have two types of liquor shops right next to my house (I stay in Goa). One is a retail outlet and another is a wholesale one so am well acquainted with their sales and profits.The retail outlet easily crosses 60,000 per month in revenue. Understand that I am talking about a village liquor outlet and that kind of figure is pretty good for a village.The wholesale unit supplies to multiple outlets and majorly deals in bulk orders. Revenue easily goes up to 1.5 Lakhs per month. This init majorly caters to weddings (Christian weddings especially, given that there are a lot of them in my locality and alcohol is a must). This becomes a major source of money for wholesale outlet.To sum up, alcohol business is critically dependent on the area in which you setup the outlet.
